Lighting Up Purple for Elimination of Violence Against Women

To demonstrate our commitment as a Property industry to ending gender-based violence, The GPT Group and all members of the Property Champions of Change will be taking part in the 16 days of activism,  by lighting up a range of commerical buildings in purple across CBD locations and beyond on the night of 25 November (to coincide with the International Day of Elimination of Violence Against Women).

Why purple?
The colour purple is being used to raise awareness about domestic and family violence and give visibility to those impacted, including those who have lost their lives to domestic and family violence.

The 16 Days of Activism Campaign is a global campaign launched by the Centre for Women’s Global Leadership (CWGL) in 1991.

  • The campaign has been used worldwide to call for the elimination of gender-based violence. It is run annually from 25 November (International Day Against Violence Against Women) to 10 December (International Human Rights Day).
  • The campaign is an opportunity for the community as well as organisations to generate conversations about gender equality and respect.

580 George Street in Sydney's CBD will be part of this significant day, shining a light on gender based violence.
